Dear Pam,
Personally I think that an eight year old, no matter how bright, is a bit young for a microscope. I think you'd have as much fun, and get as much educational value with a good magnifier.
If your heart is set on a microscope take a look at the Meade 8200 Student Microscope. |

For a child, perhaps 6 to 10, I recommend a stereo microscope such as the Konus Opal. Stereo microscopes are 3 dimensional and do not invert the image as compund microscopes do. They are perfect for looking at bugs rocks, and plants. You can find the Konus Opal at http://www.microscopes.com/ms-ko-mi-5458.html _________________ Robin P. Laboratory Product Specialist

I think that is very advance to him. But microscope is an instrument that is used to see things that we cant see by our naked eye.
