I think that is very advance to him. But microscope is an instrument that is used to see things that we cant see by our naked eye.

Post subject: Child's Microscope
For a child, perhaps 6 to 10, I recommend a stereo microscope such as the Konus Opal. Stereo microscopes are 3 dimensional and do not invert the image as compund microscopes do. They are perfect for looking at bugs rocks, and plants. You can find the Konus Opal at

Dear Pam,
Personally I think that an eight year old, no matter how bright, is a bit young for a microscope. I think you'd have as much fun, and get as much educational value with a good
magnifier
.
